can i have a moment of your time
tell you about some of the thoughts
speeding through my mind.

when your hands move across my body
the flame is hot, and real.

can't tell a soul
afraid of the words they would choose
afraid of the rumors, that create deep lacerations
maybe even a dark deep bruise,
on top of your other scars.

never past the past
never let it scratch
the surface of the present,
the present
will never exist
as the feelings of the past
will dilute your future
a constant brain racking
you just can't seem to resist.

wondering why i couldn't be it.
keeping my mouth shut
opening up my heart
